SSB 5134 Amendment for easier identification
We are currently working with legislation to make DOC offender ID’s a valid form of identification in Washington. This amendment will allow the use of one’s DOC ID to cash checks, prove citizenship and age, look for housing and work, and easily reinstate their WA State ID or License. This is just one of the many small barrier’s encountered by justice-impacted people everyday.

Thank you for everyone’s support and the nomination. It was a great experience and we are aiming to return next year to take home the big win!
Jay Inslee signs Senate Bill 5134 on May 16, 2023
With a tremendous amount of work from our volunteers, and the support of the community, we were able to push SSB 5134 through the Senate, House of Representatives, and Jay Inslee himself. With just a few adjustments, the governor signed it into law to take affect starting July 2023. This is just the beginning.

Senate Bill 5134
We’ve been working on a bill to establish and strengthen necessary reentry programs to justice-impacted persons 1 year prior to their release. We’ve also updated the wording regarding “gate money” to account for the economy’s fluctuation. It will increase the “gate money” from $40 to $300 to match the current inflation rate. These changes are only the start to a healthier, successful and more integrated community for all.
